Welcome to the Jackson Area Career Center!

The Jackson Area Career Center provides exceptional career and technical education to high school juniors and seniors throughout Jackson County, and we are proud to invite you to learn more about the many possibilities and opportunities that the Career Center offers our students.

As one of the most valuable career preparation resources in the community, we're passionate about providing the best career and technical education possible, and we believe in each student's success! Our campus is a safe, friendly, high-tech environment where students come because they want to learn -- and when students really want to learn, the results can be amazing!

The Jackson Area College and Career Connection: Jackson County's NEW Early/Middle College!
The JAC3 Early/Middle College Program is a unique learning program and pathway for Jackson County high school students! Participants simultaneously earn their high school diploma, an Associate Degree, a technical/career credential, and the opportunity for employment upon graduation—all while remaining enrolled at their local high school. Wondering about high-demand jobs and even MORE local training available? In response to concerns raised at Gov. Rick Snyder’s Economic Summit, the state launched the Career Liaison JUMP START programThis initiative supports the great work of our states Career and Tech Education Centers, and provides one career liaison for each of the 10 “Prosperity Regions” who support ways to connect employers, educators and students. For the Jackson County's region, Region 9, Dr. Michelle Shields is located at Jackson College. She is a resource to ALL high school students, parents and community members in identifying high-demand careers and training and educational programs. For more information visit: www.mitalent.org

  • Career Center FIRST Robotics Team Receives District Engineering Inspiration Award

    The Career Center’s FIRST Robotics Team, the JackTown Vectors, earned high honors at the March 14 Woodhaven FIRST Robotics Competition held at Woodhaven High School. In response to the team’s extensive and long-standing support of other Jackson County FIRST teams, the JackTown Vectors received the district’s Engineering Inspiration Award.

  • Annual Hair and Fashion Competition to Showcase Beauty Through the Ages

    “Past, Present, Future” is the title of the sixth annual Jackson Area Career Center student Hair and Fashion Competition to be held at the Michigan Theater on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

  • Machining Students Excel During Regional SkillsUSA Competition

    Following top-placement performances at the Feb. 17. 2015 regional SkillsUSA competition, the Jackson Area Career Center’s Machining program will be sending three students to the state-level SkillsUSA competition in April 2015.

  • Jackson Area Career Center to Offer Leading Certification Programs as Certiport Authorized Testing Center

    The Jackson Area Career Center has been named as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center and will offer the globally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist, IC3 Digital Literacy, and Adobe Certified Associate certification exams to their Business Administration students in Jackson, Michigan. Certiport Authorized Testing Centers are the only authorized distributors of Certiport offerings, which include the Microsoft Office Specialist certification program, the Microsoft Technology Associate certification program, the Adobe® Certified Associate certification program, the HP Accredited Technical Associate, the CompTIA Strata™ IT Fundamentals, the Autodesk Certified User certification program, the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User certification program and the IC3 Digital Literacy certification.
