Observatory at Camp McGregor

  • Quietly sitting in the southwest corner of the county far away from the city lights is one of the most high-tech telescopes in the state of Michigan... an astronomer's dream waiting to show off the stars!

The JCISD offers free public stargazing events at our Camp McGregor Observatory. These viewings are supported by trained personnel as a way to share the night sky with the community. Each stargaze event will be held on the dates shown below (depending on weather). Since stargazing is an outdoor activity, be sure to dress appropriately for the changing nighttime conditions in Michigan (cold, mosquitoes, dew, etc).

We hope to offer stargazing events as soon as possible!

As always, weather permitting! If cloudy or inclement weather exists, viewings will not be held or could end early.  Call the Observatory Hotline at 517-990-8004 to check for cancellations. (Please note that this number is a recording only).

The Camp McGregor Observatory is located on Crispell Lake at 10380 Adams Road, Clark Lake, MI 49234.
