Transportation and Bus Driver CertificationThe Jackson County ISD coordinates and facilitates a variety of services directed at assisting local public school districts in safely operating their pupil transportation programs.Enrollment into Beginning Bus Driver Training and testing are required upon employment as a school bus driver. Each school district may also have additional criteria for hiring.
The Beginning Class is a mandatory 18-20 hour, 5 day class, 9:30 am to 1:30pm and is offered for beginning school bus drivers who have met all prerequisites for driving a school bus, or who have a certificate of course completion that has expired.
Drivers are asked to arrive a few minutes early to sign in and receive the class materials. Drivers should bring the Beginning School Bus Driver Manual with them to notate updates. Class breaks will be provided during the training and drivers are encouraged to bring a snack or lunch as catering is not provided.Continuing Bus Driver Training Form – Certification will expire 9/30/2021. (There will be no Six Hour Continuing Education Training offered until January, 2021)
