All of our programs provide instruction in the following skill areas: personal care, leisure/recreation, travel/mobility, basic life, personal relationships, prevocational and communication skills, English language arts, math and science.

Students are placed in the programs and provided ancillary services as designated by the Individual Educational Planning Committee process.  This committee, after considering the least restrictive environment, recommends where a students program and services may most appropriately be provided.  Ancillary services may include: speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, orientation and mobility training, vision consultant, hearing impaired consultant, school social worker, school psychologist, audiological services, adaptive physical education, augmentative communication services, and nursing.  Medical consultant services are provided on a contracted basis.

Measures of success include at least 90% parental attendance at the annual IEPCs and increased community involvement.  In addition to individual educational planning meetings, two parent teacher conferences are held to discuss student progress and to promote home/school reinforcement of student goal achievement.  Parent conference attendance is approximately 80%.

We utilize curriculum based assessment. Due to the multiplicity of the disabilities, standardized tests are not appropriate.  Achievement is measured by individual student goal attainment.  We administer the MI-Access evaluation system as required by the State of Michigan.

We continue to utilize a transition process to promote advanced planning that will provide smooth transitions for our students enrolling in the Torrant programs and for those completing our program.
