Camp McGregor - Where Nature & Learning Meet

**April 3, 2023 - Due to several downed trees from the recent storms, the walking trails at Camp McGregor are inaccessible and will be closed to the public until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to clear debris and make them safe again. Thank you.

Camp McGregor is 85-acres of nature with woods, meadows and animals in their natural habitat on the shores of Crispell Lake. The Jackson County ISD has owned and operated Camp McGregor since 1985. Camp McGregor serves each division of the JCISD and all Jackson County schools. It is also available for private rental and is an ideal spot for family reunions, weddings, graduation parties and group outings. Camp McGregor is rented by reservation and the affordable rate is part of the service the JCISD provides so that the facilities will serve the entire community. For more rental information, call 517-262-8409.

Camp McGregor is home to the JCISD's Math & Science Center and an observatory with our most recent addition -- one of the most modern computer-driven telescopes you'll find in the state. The high-tech science facilities at Camp McGregor demonstrate our commitment to the success of all students by offering educational programs to our local school districts.

The camp also hosts a special education camp each summer for Lyle Torrant students, illustrating our commitment to providing diverse opportunities and experiences for each student. Camp McYack is another JCISD special education program held at the camp each June.

The camp is available for private rental based on availability. It is also home for all of the 4-H Horse Shows during the spring and summer each year. Camp McGregor offers:

  • Nature Trails
  • Sandy Beach Lakefront (boat launch located nearby)
  • Lodge Banquet Facility with commercial kitchen and seating for 80 people.
  • 6 Cabins with Electricity

Astronomy Camp was "a blast" for students who attended. "I never thought stars were that important until I went to camp. I was really scared because I didn't know a lot about astronomy - the only thing I really knew about was the zodiac signs.... What I learned was that each and every star has a story to tell." Read a letter to Camp instructors.
