    March 19, 2015: Career Center FIRST Robotics Team Received District Engineering Inspiration Award
    The Career Center’s FIRST Robotics Team, the JackTown Vectors, earned high honors at the March 14 Woodhaven FIRST Robotics Competition held at Woodhaven High School. In response to the team’s extensive and long-standing support of other Jackson County FIRST teams, the JackTown Vectors received the district’s Engineering Inspiration Award. The FIRST Robotics Engineering Inspiration Award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s community. 

    March 4, 2015: Annual Hair and Fashion Competition to Showcase Beauty Through the Ages
    “Past, Present, Future” is the title of the sixth annual Jackson Area Career Center student Hair and Fashion Competition to be held at the Michigan Theater on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

    “This is such an exciting, fun and fantastic event for our students and audience,” said Career Center cosmetology instructor Ronda Applegate. “It not only allows our students to show their talents and creativity, but allows them to showcase the many skills and subjects they pursue through this program.” 

    February 26, 2015: Career Center Machining Students Excel During Regional SkillsUSA Competition
    Following top-placement performances at the Feb. 17. 2015 regional SkillsUSA competition, the Jackson Area Career Center’s Machining program will be sending three students to the state-level SkillsUSA competition in April.  

    “Competitions like SkillsUSA give the students a chance to demonstrate their abilities in the field they have chosen to study,” said Joseph Lienhart, Precision Machining instructor at the Career Center. “I’m extremely proud to see our students demonstrate the industry skills and abilities they’ve learned in the program.

    February 18, 2015: Target YOUR Success at the Annual Career Center Open House
    The Jackson Area Career Center warmly invites the public to Target the Future and join in the excitement at this year’s annual Open House on Thursday, February 26, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

    Career Center to Offer Leading Certification Programs as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center 
    The Jackson Area Career Center has been named as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center and will offer the globally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist, IC3 Digital Literacy, and Adobe Certified Associate certification exams to their Business Administration students in Jackson, Michigan.

    Certiport Authorized Testing Centers are the only authorized distributors of Certiport offerings, which include the Microsoft Office Specialist certification program, the Microsoft Technology Associate certification program, the Adobe® Certified Associate certification program, the HP Accredited Technical Associate, the CompTIA Strata™ IT Fundamentals, the Autodesk Certified User certification program, the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User certification program and the IC3 Digital Literacy certification. 

    Beginning in fall of 2014, an exciting educational opportunity will be available to local high school students: a county-wide Early/Middle College, with a focus on manufacturing careers. JAMA and The Enterprise Group of Jackson have partnered with the Jackson Area Career Center, Jackson County ISD, and Jackson College on a new education program called the Jackson Area College and Career Connection Early/Middle College (“JAC3”).JAC3 is a unique, three-year learning program that creates a pathway to post-secondary and career success for its participants, without the familiar financial struggle or strain that often accompanies college costs. 

    Army JROTC Expands to New, Larger Location for Fall 2014
    The Jackson Area Career Center’s Army JROTC program is gearing up for fall 2014 with a big change. After nearly a decade of operating at maximum capacity at the Career Center’s Browns Lake Road building, the program is set to begin the upcoming school year at a new location within the Ackerson Lake Community Education Building at 4126 Brooklyn Road.
