    Michigan Advanced Technician Training

MAT² is a is an educational model that operates much like an apprenticeship. This training program works with industry leaders and combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training to develop company specific skills. Upon graduation, students are prepared to successfully step directly into the workforce.  MAT² trains a globally competitive workforce by:

    • Allowing companies to develop their own employees according to their particular needs
    • Providing direct employer involvement in the design and execution of competency-based education and training programs
    • Offering a means of training that reduces recruitment, retention, and training costs
    • Establishing Michigan as an education innovator and global competitor
    • Creating a nationally accredited program, in which students receive an associate degree as well as other accreditations

MAT² also addresses two manufacturing and technology issues:

    • A widening skills gap
    • An aging workforce
