Special Education Administrative Services

  • The Jackson County Intermediate School District (JCISD) provides Special Education Administrative Services for the local school districts in Jackson County. These Administrative Services include supervision for the Special Education services in the local districts in Jackson County.

    The JCISD also maintains the central registry that serves as the primary source of information for state and federally mandated record keeping for students with impairments in the county. JCISD is responsible for monitoring and implementing the Special Education rules and complaint investigations regarding the delivery of Special Education services in the county. JCISD also provides support and assistance to the Jackson County Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).

    Compliance Issues
    JCISD is responsible for the investigation on complaints made about the delivery of Special Education services in the county. The Special Education Complaint Procedure can be found in the JCISD Parent Handbook, and under Dispute Resolution Options in the Special Education section of the Michigan Department of Education website.
     
    Monitoring of Special Education Services
    JCISD conducts yearly reviews of selected Special Education student files to assure compliance with federal and state rules.The Michigan State Monitoring Standards used by JCISD can be found in the Special Education section of the Michigan Department of Education website.
