Former East Jackson school board president appointed to fill board vacancy

Jackson, Mich. -- Doug Scott, Human Resource Manager at Industrial Steel Treating Company in Jackson, has been appointed to the Jackson County Intermediate School District Board of Education. The partial-year term appointment expires on June 30, 2023. 

Mr. Scott’s experience on other boards in the Jackson community reflects his commitment to education at all levels, including serving on the East Jackson Board of Education for 12 years, four of those years as President. He is also a past member of the Jackson Area Manufacturing Association’s Academy of Manufacturing Careers Board of Directors, and the South Central Human Resource Management Association. Mr. Scott is currently a member of the United Way of South Central Michigan, a recent merger of Jackson, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek United Ways.

“I am confident my background in manufacturing, ongoing involvement in the promotion and support of education, and desire to improve the lives of our local students and community members will prove beneficial to the students and schools supported by the Jackson County Intermediate School District,” said Mr. Scott in his letter to JCISD board members. 

Mr. Scott was one of two people interviewed to fill the board vacancy. The remaining two years of this term, which expires on June 30, 2025, will be elected at the next Biennial Election on June 5, 2023.
