Career Center adds second Assistant Principal to staff

September 23, 2022

Jackson, Mich. - The Jackson Area Career Center has announced a new Assistant Principal on staff for the 2022-23 school year.

Lauren Kyser officially started her new position on Wednesday, September 21. Mrs. Kyser previously held the role of Assistant Principal at Hanover Horton High School. In this new role, Mrs. Kyser will focus on the staff and curriculum side of things. Assistant Principal Lauren Sager will continue to support student services.

“We’re excited for Lauren Kyser to be here at the Career Center,” said Principal Dan Draper. “She has a lot of energy and knowledge and is a very determined individual who is going to help us grow as a building, and help us grow as a staff. We’re just really excited for her to be a part of the Career Center family.”

Mrs. Kyser has a background in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and Central Connecticut State University. Previous to her role as Assistant Principal at Hanover-Horton, Mrs. Kyser taught high school English for 16 years at Western High School, Michigan Center High School and a couple of schools in Avon, Connecticut.

Mrs. Kyser says she’s most looking forward to immersing herself in the programs and seeing kids at their best while they’re here. “You get to see them doing what they love, which is so much different than what they have to do,” said Mrs. Kyser. “Every kid who walks through the door is happy to be here and it’s just so different and fun. The Career Center is really different from when I went to school, so I’m really curious and excited to see all the programs in action.”
