January is School Board Recognition Month

January 5, 2023

Jackson, Mich. -- The Michigan Association of School Boards and the National School Board Association have deemed January School Board Recognition Month. In the state of Michigan there are more than 4,000 school board members who help guide the over 800 K-12 school districts across the state. Board members' responsibilities include attending school functions, preparing for board meetings, reading financial reports, agendas and proposals, and making a host of difficult and challenging decisions. The last few years operating in a COVID-19 influenced atmosphere has added to these challenges.

Members of the Jackson County ISD Board of Education include Dave Salsbury, President; Erin Slater, Vice President; Doug Scott, Treasurer; Doug Schedeler, Secretary; and Blaine Goodrich, Trustee.

"It is an honor and pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of people that volunteer so much of their time in service to the greater community," said Jackson County ISD Superintendent Kevin Oxley. "Their commitment to accountability, transparency and decision-making for the greater good is a proud, lasting legacy for Jackson County."

Thank you school board members image
