Transportation
The Jackson County Intermediate School District Transportation Department offers specialized transportation to various ISD classrooms. There are currently over 22 bus runs, with nearly 480,000 miles driven each year!
Our highly-qualified drivers have received many hours of in-depth, certified training and have passed a detailed written exam given by the Michigan State License Bureau as well as a basic Red Cross First Aid course. All of the drivers have also passed a complete physical examination.
Each of our vehicles, in addition to necessary safety devices and sophisticated radio and navigation equipment, are evaluated by the Michigan State Police annually and have passed the Michigan State Bus Inspection. Each unit has a seat belt for every child, and our orthopedic vehicles have been equipped with special tie-down straps to secure wheelchairs. If your child requires a car seat due to age or disability, we will also be able to provide an appropriate seat for each student.
The main interest of the Jackson County Intermediate School District Board of Education is that your child is transported in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
